Our History

Simtra BioPharma Solutions’ dedication to unconditional quality is rooted in more than 65 years of excellence in manufacturing sterile injectables. Production started up in our  Halle/Westfalen, Germany, facility in the late 1950s, followed by the establishment of the Bloomington, Indiana, facility in the early 1980s.

Prior to October 1, 2023, Simtra BioPharma Solutions was Baxter BioPharma Solutions, a business unit of Baxter International Inc. Baxter was the first manufacturer to prepare intravenous (IV) solutions and the first to offer closed system IV containers and premixed drug solutions.

These and many other Baxter “firsts” have fueled our passion for continual innovation and our relentless focus on excellence at every turn. And both as part of Baxter and now, as Simtra, we have not hesitated to expand our facilities, capacity and capabilities as part of our innovation strategy. At Simtra, we continue to build on our heritage to shape our future.
